Bennett International Group, LLC to invest $6.5 million in Washington County facility
ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that a Henry County-based global transportation company, Bennett International Group, LLC, is launching a new venture in Washington County, creating more than 150 jobs over the next two years with a $6.5 million investment in Tennille.
“Here is yet another success story of a Georgia company choosing to stay here to invest new resources and create new jobs,” Governor Perdue said. “While we work hard to attract new companies to Georgia, we realize that homegrown companies like Bennett International Group are the backbone of our state’s thriving economy.”
Bennett plans to build a new 62,500-square-foot manufacturing facility on a 20-acre site at Tennille’s Industrial Park. Bennett Building Systems is a new venture for the company, which is one of the largest woman-owned businesses in Georgia. The facility will manufacture, sell and deliver metal utility buildings to retailers within a 300-mile radius.
“At Bennett International Group, we have always attributed the success of our ventures not only to providing superior products and services, but also to employing the best of Georgia’s workforce,” said Danny Lowry, Vice-President of Bennett International Group. “Bennett has always been a community-based company with both national and international reach, and we are proud to continue that tradition with inception of Bennett Building Systems.”
Economic development officials from the state of Georgia and Washington County welcomed Bennett to the area.
“Bennett’s expansion into Washington County demonstrates that in Georgia, we help our companies reach their fullest potential,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Ken Stewart. “A move like this strengthens a rural economy and allows a Georgia company to grow.”
Wendy Bibb was the project manager for GDEcD.
“Bennett International Group’s presence will be very beneficial for Tennille,” said Theo McDonald, executive director of the Development Authority of Washington County. “They are a great company with an outstanding reputation, and we look forward to a successful partnership with them.”
Bennett International Group, LLC, a global transportation company headquartered in McDonough, is a premier provider of logistics, transportation and supply chain solutions to government contractors and commercial businesses for over 30 years. The company is in the top 10 of the largest privately held woman-owned companies in the U.S.
