Governor Perdue Welcomes Home Members of Georgia’s 48th Brigade
ATLANTA –Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding the return of the Georgia Army National Guard’s 48th Brigade Combat Team:
“Mary and I would like to welcome home the men and women who have honorably served our country with the 48th Brigade in Iraq.
“I can think of no job more important than the one that these men and women embraced. These soldiers are our family members, neighbors, friends and coworkers and they put their lives on hold to defend our nation in the global war on terrorism.
“Their commitment to fostering democracy and freedom in the Middle East is greatly appreciated by the citizens of Georgia. As a state, we are committed to providing an inviting and hospitable environment for these soldiers as they return to their homes, families and jobs.
“Though we are thrilled for today’s homecoming, we must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I encourage the citizens of Georgia to display yellow ribbons in honor of the 48th Brigade.”
