2008 Conference in Savannah a Success in Its Inaugural Year
SAVANNAH — Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that the 2009 Southeastern United States-Canadian Provinces Alliance conference will be hosted by the Honorable Trevor Taylor, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development and Minister Responsible for the Rural Secretariat for Newfoundland and Labrador.
“The inaugural SEUS-Canadian Provinces Alliance conference in Savannah has made history, and I know next year’s event in Newfoundland and Labrador will continue to strengthen these important relationships,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “I am honored to co-host the 2009 conference as Trevor Taylor, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development for Newfoundland and Labrador takes the reins.”
The 2009 SEUS-CP conference will be held May 20-22, 2009, at the Delta Hotel & Conference Center in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Additional details about the conference will be available closer to the date.
“I look forward to hosting the 2009 conference in Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Minister Taylor. “I am pleased to have our partners in Georgia as co-hosts as we build on the success of this year’s inaugural event and strengthen our relationships.”
SEUS-CP was chartered in November 2007, when six Southeastern states (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) and seven Canadian provinces (Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec) decided to form an alliance to promote trade, investment, tourism, educational and friendship ties.
The inaugural SEUS-CP Alliance conference is being held in Savannah from June 15-17, 2008.
