ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding the unanimous passage of the Wireless Privacy Act (SB 46) by the House:
“Thanks to the legislature’s support today, Georgians will not have to worry that their cell phone numbers will be published in a directory without their consent. Consumers in Georgia deserve protections from the nuisance and expense of unwanted cell phone calls. I want to thank Senator David Shafer and my House Floor Leader Jay Roberts for their leadership on this issue.”
Today the bill passed the House 139-0. Due to some minor changes in the House, the bill must go back to the Senate to agree. It passed the State Senate unanimously on February 23, 2005.
