Statement of Governor Perdue on Passing of Don Layfield

ATLANTA- Governor Sonny Perdue issued the following statement today regarding the passing of Don Layfield, a longtime friend and supporter.

“Mary and I were deeply saddened to hear of Don’s passing earlier today. We offer our condolences and heartfelt prayers to his wife Myranelle and his entire family that he loved more than anything else.  Don had a heart of gold and was one of those people whose hard work inspired everyone.  He never did anything halfway and always poured his heart and soul into any mission he took on.  His lifelong commitment to family, service and party has left us all better off.” 

Layfield, 78, was a long time Republican activist who served as the Republican Party Chairman for Bibb County.  He formerly served as 8th Congressional District Chair and was a Presidential Elector in 2004.
