Governor Appoints Gena Abraham as State Property Officer
ATLANTA – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the appointment of Gena Abraham, Ph.D., as state property officer. In this capacity, she will serve as executive director of the State Properties Commission, Georgia Building Authority and the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission, Construction Division.
“Gena Abraham's extensive experience in the public, private and academic sectors of construction and engineering make her an excellent choice to manage Georgia 's state owned properties,” said Governor Sonny Perdue. “Gena will further the efforts of my Commission for a New Georgia to run state government like a business, particularly in the areas of property management and construction.”
Abraham replaces Rod Bowlden who has served as the interim state property officer following the death of Ray Crawford. A brief biography is provided below.
Gena Lester Abraham, Ph.D., 37, Sharpsburg , GA – Abraham has served as the executive secretary and director of the construction division of the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission (GSFIC) since June 24, 2003. Previously, she was an assistant professor of construction engineering and management in the civil engineering department at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Abraham also served as chief engineer for the Georgia Building Authority and managed construction across the U.S. for LaSalle Partners. She received her bachelor's degree and doctorate in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Abraham has one son.
