Perdue issued the following statement on the damage:
- I have just returned from surveying damage caused by last night's severe storm with Georgia Emergency Management Agency Director Gary McConnel and Adjutant General of Georgia Major General David Poythress.
- Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this tragedy and we are deeply grateful that it appears Georgia suffered no fatalities from the storm.
- I assure the affected communities that I will support any steps taken by the current administration to provide them assistance.
Perdue and Poythress canceled plans to attend a Veterans Day ceremony in Macon this morning and contacted McConnel prior to joining him in assessing the damage wrought by the storm.
